AIRTEL’s Donation

The third biggest telecommunications in Nigeria donated 1.9 billion Naira in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic. The sum of 200 million Naira was disbursed into making available isolation center or any required medical facility agreed with the appropriate health authority in Nigeria. 120 million Naira to make available N95 respirator masks for medical practitioners working at the frontline of the pandemic disease.
Airtel users are offered free short message services (SMS) worth N1 billion as well as free data worth about N500 million to access educational and health sites.
The sites include those of the ministry of health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on the pandemic.
100 million Naira to provide toll-free lines and broadband services for the NCDC, port health services in the 36 States, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Airtel employees donated the sum of 20 million Naira to the Lagos state government to make palliatives available for vulnerable citizens in Lagos during the outbreak.
